Had a listen to the webinar. Much greater clarity in places. The UL9540A Test Method to my way of thinking is a cascading risk assessment. At the first level, the cell level the Test Method is designed to create a severe level of abuse to ascertain if the cell is subject to thermal runaway and to test what happens, heat, gas, fire etc. I guess it's like trees, some don't burn easily at all, there can be a few different reasons for that, but others do, they can propagate a fire, then you get some that can explode in the right conditions, like in firestorm conditions with advancing flammable gas.....

I'm guessing but I think all those thick cables were there so they could try to be really mean to the battery The tests didn't achieve thermal runaway so that makes all the rest of the testing unnecessary. There are 3 more levels of testing for risk assessment if you get thermal runaway;
