The enormity of the opportunity suddenly stuck me reading this article. There is a the major shift in thinking/action and not just conceptual anymore concerning the existing infrastructure that has been around for decades. As the article states "by providing farmers with solar and batteries is often cheaper than maintaining poles and wires. It costs them billions to maintain, whereas the cost of solar and batteries is forever coming down.
There is a picture in the article of the power company maintaining the poles and wires in rural WA. It could easily be the dismantling of a large portion of the infrastructure across regional Aust and for that matter many parts of the globe.
Imagine in the future a significant elimination of existing poles and wires and replacing with solar and batteries. Now that would be a mighty change and opportunity for all battery providers.
