I see that Wilson Tuckey is a tidal man, not a wave man. He wants tidal barrages in the rivers of the Kimberley.

Now the Kimberleys are one of the least inhabited parts of Australia, so vast lengths of power line would need to be built to populated areas. By contrast, the UK Severn estuary proposal is within a few km of the industrial cities of Bristol, South Wales and the Midlands.
The beauty of wave power for Australia is that it can be placed opportunistically close to populated areas (with some exceptions, based on lack of constant wave action).
BTW, Tuckey's web page self-describes him as "a fixture on the national political scene for a quarter of a century."
Fixture? I thought the point of an iron bar is that it can be moved up and down over skulls. Is Tuckey more like the cute gnome my neighbour has fixed in his back yard?
