I have been keeping an eye out for competition to lithium batteries for cars.
There are a few, such as the Zinc Air, the Fe (from China) and a few others, as well as Supercapacitors.
However there seems to be so much momentum in Lithium battery research that they may become the dominant mode of electrical energy storage for cars.The first mover principle is very important in a new field.

The problems as I see them for the Eden energy idea is that of infrastructure
(for their Hythane), perception of hydrogen(re Hindenberg, however unfair) and a disinclination of most players in this new alternative fuel scene to hand themselves over to a sole provider of the technology(ie monopoly)
