A sample size of your wife and her friends is a little limited and I suspect they may not fit the target market on this occasion. Paul who is now based in China is targeting a market none of us are expert with but he knows well. Time will tell of course, but the Asian market is complex, just look at SK-II. Why spend $400 on serums when you can spend $50? My wife doesn’t buy SK-II but it doesn’t mean there isn’t a market for it.
