The Gallium is Mostly in Weathered Regolith – NOT in Fresh Rock
RareX states that gallium has been found only in the upper 80m of the deposit – this suggests it's primarily in the weathered regolith (laterite or clay-rich zone), which is notorious for:
Highly variable grades – mineralization can be patchy and inconsistent.
Difficult metallurgy – extracting gallium from weathered regolith is not as straightforward as from primary sources like bauxite or zinc ores.
Limited tonnage – regolith-hosted mineralization is often shallow and lacks continuity at depth.
If there were any meaningful deeper gallium resources, RareX would have already assayed for them. Instead, they're only now considering further assays, proving that they don’t even know if deeper gallium exists.
Most gallium projects outside of China have FAILED to reach commercial production.Without a concrete plan to extract gallium economically, this RareX “discovery” is just a speculative PR stunt.
