Monday, July 04, 2005 REEFTON Mining has appointed a former senior executive of Iluka Resources to oversee its mineral sands and diamond projects in Namibia.
Christopher Mortimer – most recently Iluka's country manager for Sri Lanka and India – will take up his Perth-based posting later this month with a brief to manage Reefton's co-existing diamond and mineral sands operations, exploration and strategic partnerships along Namibia's Skeleton Coast.
Mortimer will also be responsible for generating new project opportunities.
A qualified geologist, Mortimer has reportedly more than 25 years experience worldwide in the exploration, evaluation and production of both mineral sand and alluvial deposits.
Reefton has suffered a couple of board member resignations in the last few months, with clouds also emerging over a uranium project it had flagged in Namibia. The latter issue remains unresolved.
