I have searched through legislation.nsw.gov.au and can not find enough detail to understand if lateral wells are permitted to enter into the 2KM exclusion zone. I hope that they are permitted, as I understand that the driver for the rules relates to 'land use'. Does anyone know if laterals will be permitted to enter into the exclusion zones?

While searching, I did find that the first NSW methane gas extraction was from Sydney in the 1940s, where it was extracted, compressed and sold as motor fuel.
