Quick question Domum. What are your targets?

If your after planetary stuff then it would be fine for it. If you choose to get into astrophotography for planets your refractor will be a good choice.

From experience I took on an ETX which is excellent for planets etc due to its high fstop but not great for photographs.

After a while my needs changed and planetary stuff just got me bored. Instead i bought a EQ6 tripod and bought a 10 inch reflector for some deep space targets. When it comes to light, you know its still better to go for a larger scope.

The refractor you want would be probably set you back around 2500 + 500-1000 for accessories. It all adds up.

But if i had my time again, i would have gone straight for the tripod. $1900. and 10 inch reflector. 800$.

Comparable price. I ll say this, once i saw objects in a 10 inch scope, its really difficult to ever go back to the smaller ETX 105 meade.

another advantage is that later you can still get the refractor and piggy back it on a 10 inch scope or 12 inch in future.

consider looking at the scope without the cradle.
You would need rings to mount it. extra 100.

consider Bintel because ive always found their prices to be competitive (melbourne store). Their service to be great. They know im a bit crazy about scopes and accessories because i want everything. However ive found that they actually discourage me from wasting money on things that i dont really need.

Best to buy when AUD$ is high like now. :)
