Noted that BCD will close the Beaconsfield mine in 2012.
This has a bacterial oxidation plant that has treated the refractory ore produced at this mine. Recent recoveries are around 81% - this is depressed because of higher lead content in the ore from recent mining. There does not seem to be such an issue with Northern refractory ore.
Also there is usually some ambient temperature effect on oxidation rates from bacteria so if this plant works in the cold of Tasmania - rates should be better in WA - if the highest temperatures are not a problem for the bacteria.
May be another opportunity for a cashed up company to pick up assets at a bargain price. Perhaps NST could do another capped royalty deal.
