Speech straight out of the yes campaign handbook; the daunting question remains - HOW. Speculation and belief in an outcome is no guarantee anything will change. The yes campaign does not have the answers; the government does not have the answers yet the government wants complete control of the voice. That is not a recipe for change. A complete audit of every Aboriginal welfare organisation is the start point. Who decides the pay structure for every employee; where is the waste; what is syphoned off; who are the skimmers; Let's see the books. A complete forensic audit of the annual $33 billion expenditure. Accept nothing as fact without sustained proof.
The Minister has failed and continues to fail. If $33 b is not closing the gap the minister should know why. She is accountable. Is she incapable of conversing with Aboriginal people? Is her voice unable to speak for the aboriginal people. She is good at telling us what is wrong but as an identified aboriginal person cannot speak the language of the voice. Who can speak the language of the voice? Why is a change to the constitution the only means to hear the voice?
The Australian taxpayers want guarantees not whimsical, feelgood emotionally driven populous rhetoric such as the right thing to do and if not now when. Get real Australia; identify the problem. 65,000 year old story telling and dreaming will not have the answers. What lunacy to think the answers lie in the remotest parts of the outback.
