I suspect that mike has me on ignore as he/she (and I think mike is female not male) doesn't seem to like what I have to say even though it is expressed without sneering or aggression.
I would simply point out to him/her that this apparent change of heart re asylum seeker placement is simply relative. To must of us who abhor the way both political parties have turned the asylum seeker issue into a political football, neither Malaysia nor Nauru is acceptable. The use of desparate people, seeking safety for their families to further political ends is just immoral as far as I'm concerned. Neither party is prepared to show true leadership and put this matter into its proper perspective.
That said, if it comes down to Malaysia or Nauru, then I know which one of those would be more humane. The problem is that it's like chosing between the frying pan or the fire. Neither is acceptable.
