Had a tiler recommended to me by a builder mate
Thought I,d have to wait a month or two to get him.
He arrived next day .
Did a great job.I expressed my surprise at being able to secure his services so promptly.
He told that he was no longer getting the smaller commercial jobs which were his bread and butter as these were going to
groups of Afgan refugees who had moved into the industry.A boss based on caste would direct the workers and dole out their pay .The tilers were also getting welfare.The work was shoddy but very quick given the large gangs "employed".The tiler I employed couldn,t compete with this and was struggling.
Wages are being driven down in many industries ,as yet not a big problem here ,but I believe particularly so in England.
A topic worthy of discussion and very real in some parts of the world now.
