i think country living and country upbringing is a romantic notion that goes together with "good old days" ... which werent that good to everyone and thats why we "did away" with them...
human brain tends to filter memories and come up with mostly good ones when we talk about times past...
forget country as an investment...short of an occasional mine opening (in which case it is working OVERTIME) it is just not working!
retirement should be about you enjoying the remainder of whats left of your time on this planet...why would you want to bury yourself in some 'sticks' before you're dead?
