I appreciate your opinion @sulfur, and I would like to add:

    1. The chemical processing of ore concentrate is the major value-add portion of the conversion process. It is more likely that the higher value-add steps will be undertaken in the most favourable jurisdiction(s).

    2. Political and tax regime stability, low sovereign risk, independent judiciary, and an entrenched history of rule of law (especially private property rights and contract law) will all likely be factors that may be considered by the BoD.

    3. JW has already mentioned that certain US states are offering P2P terms as attractive as KIZAD. LPD has always talked about chemical plants in multiple jurisdictions to better serve markets and reduce business risk.

For these reasons (together with the others I postulated earlier (acid supply, by-product markets Post #:57788121 ), I just don't see Walvis Bay getting selected at this time.

This discussion hasn't touched on a x4 expansion of P1P (perhaps after P2P is commissioned). There is enough land at KIZAD, and an expansion would be a convenient and low-cost way to add 15 ktpa output.

On your point about processing spodumene at the demonstration plant (P1P). I understand this would require changes to the existing circuits. Such changes may be better made at the PP, leaving the P1P to demonstrate Li recovery from Zinnwaldite and Amblygonite pegmatites. LPD has identified significant capex, opex and GHG savings using its IP, but scaling up from the PP may best be left to the spodumene processors (once they have a license).

All that said, I'm not going to die in the ditch over my preferred P2P location, and I am often wrong.
