It's just been tightened in the UK, following most of the states in the US.

Anyone interested in the Australian regulatory implications for secure email might find interesting reading especially in the Telecommunications section of the Australian Law Reform Commission's final report. It's due at A-G's next week and to be tabled in Parliament shortly afterwards. ALRC Chairman speaking at this week's AUSCert2008 but no reports yet.
