Potential for growth here if payment options for taxi industry is altered. Who else would be watching this?

"Competition watchdog sues Cabcharge over conduct

    Cynthia Koons | June 26, 2009

    Article from: Dow Jones Newswires
THE competition watchdog has launched legal action against Cabcharge for alleged breaches of the Trades Practices Act in regard to its conduct in the domestic taxi industry.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission alleges Cabcharge has used its market power to refuse to enter into agreements with competing suppliers of payment processing services, which would have allowed Cabcharge's payment products to be processed through alternative EFTPOS machines.

The agency also claims Cabcharge has used its market power to supply a "significant" number of meters and fare schedule updates either free or below cost for anticompetitive purposes.

Cabcharge representatives were not immediately available for comment."
