Wondering - have you got an actual reference from Honda saying they will be making the battery by 2018?
I would be interested if there was more to it
I can find lots of links all going around in circles quoting a single release. It seems to be all related to the publication of the doctoral paper.
I wonder if whoever made the original press release misunderstood that the demonstration of a technique for making a cathode that looks promising for the future didn't actually mean they have built a new battery and will be able to produce it commercially in 18 months.
Smells a bit to me much like how the media regularly reports on revolutionary breakthrough cancer cures based on the simplistic reading of a scientific paper that itself makes no such claims. May be wrong though.
