If you have another look at that post you may note that it was somewhat misinterpreted by both those I was defending as well as just about every other respondent. I was simply replying as I thought appropriate at a time when LWP was trading @ 1.3c to someone who had posted, "beware of the redhearts who are looking to get everyone excited as they exit ." - As one of those so called "red hearts" I just wanted to make it known that I wasn't excited for anyone buying @ 1.3c, just as I'm not excited for anyone buying @ 0.9c today. And, if some of those responding to my post had bothered to conduct any research in the first instance, they would've found that I had already provided an opinion one month earlier on a different thread.

Your definition of "dumbed-down" and mine don't appear to be aligned, but we shall move on...

What I said was that Oxane's IP was quite advanced and somewhat more complex than LWP's single dumbed-down fly-ash/clay/bauxite combo. If the method of manufacture and proppant material from LWP's patent application hasn't been disclosed to you yet, then perhaps today is your lucky day... although your luck on this topic may run out just as quickly by the time you get to point 4).

In 2014, Carbo Ceramics saw its proppant sales drop by nearly 6% from 2013 to 1618 million lb. During that year, its Russian operations were impacted by the imposition of trade sanctions enacted by the US government in response to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. But in the USA, Chinese imports remained a factor, while recent E&P practices in consuming larger volumes of frac sand at the expense of ceramic proppants compounded the fall in ceramic proppant demand. Come 2015 and the oil price drop, E&P budget cuts have been significant, drilling activity has declined, and with it proppant demand has been impacted further. With leading oilfield service suppliers Halliburton and Schlumberger together accounting for around 52% of Carbo Ceramics’ 2014 revenue, the US performance outlook for both these companies is expected to be flat at best for 2015 and therefore Carbo Ceramics, and other proppant producers, may not expect an uptick in demand any time soon. Thus US producers have found themselves with excess capacity. The result is that Oxane Materials announced its 23 January 2015 Van Buren, Arkansas plant closure in November 2014; Saint-Gobain idled Fort Smith, Arkansas on 21 January 2015; on 25 February 2015 Imerys idled its Gemini plant at Andersonville, Georgia, and announced a reduction in production at the brand new Wrens, Georgia, plant; and on 10 March Carbo Ceramics mothballed its McIntyre plant. With theses recent closures, and not including the possible slowdown at Imerys’ Wrens plant, the upshot is an overall reduction in US ceramic proppant capacity of about 717 million lb/yr, or about 23%. Overall US proppant consumption was projected to rise 2% p.a. through 2016, from 80 billion lb in 2013 to 111 billion lb in 2016, with most growth in frac sand, but ceramic proppants declining by 17% and resin coated sands by 5%. Carbo Ceramics expects these conditions to continue during 2015 with continued pricing pressure on ceramic proppant.

Funny stuff - I'm pretty certain that LWP's patent attorneys would already be aware that the inventive step and non-obviousness reflect a same general patentability requirement present in most patent laws, according to which an invention should be sufficiently inventive in order to be patented.;

So help me get this clear: Mikeska/Basil Angelo Patent attorneys were asked by someone to probe the robustness of Epropp/LWP's patent claim in 2014? Or did Epropp itself engage the Angelos?

IPEA (WIPO) had issues of obviousness (which surprises me), would be nice to see Epropps response.

In any case on 8 April 2015 'Ep (euro patent): the epo (euro patent office) has been informed by wipo (world intellectual property org) that ep was designated in this application'

So Epropps response must have been convincing, and WIPO confirmed the validity of the IP.

is that roughly how it went?
