I know a few people that work at an engineering company doing work on the Sasol plant who in fact only recently returned from the Sasol plant in SA and this is what they had to say about the pollution:

"Does not sound like the Sasol thing is similar to what LNC is doing anyway. In Sasol they burn coal in low oxygen enviroments in gassifiers to produce syngas and from there produce different hydrocarbon products. The LNC thing if its to do with pulling gas from underground coal seams is a different kettle of fish altogether. They are not burning coal is gassifiers. So I can't see how greenies can get too excited about.

Again, Sasol type work (burning coal in gassifiers and making syngas) is completely different to gathering coal seam gas which is what I think LNC is involved in."
