Can someone clarify the point below from an article I was reading in relation to this dreadful incident that should have never happened. Surely any court action of any kind must be taken on board by the commonwealth. That must have been the reason Albanese said on the tele that this was a state issue.
However, it is understood Mr Doukoshkan had been on bail for unrelated charges before the alleged home invasion. Commonwealth authorities have no power to intervene in court over state-based offences and they are not regarded as breach of visa conditions.
