If the well was dry then there would be no high pressure or kicks?, so better to have some feedback from the well bore to indicate the good stuff is down there. Now we don't know if there was any problem with the initial calculation of the mud weight, but no doubt the crew would have thoroughly reviewed all relevant data, so therefore should have a very robust list of options if such wellbore feedback occurs this time around.
