That is what shorting is all about - sell shares that are borrowed and so did not put pressure on the buy price but does flood the sell volume and so forces the price down, and then buy them back cheaper. It is simple manipulation that the authorities (likely many of whom were once in the game and got their position as a result of their 'experience') are happy to allow. Nothing is going to change while the authorities are hapy to allow share price manipulation.
