    The video did make it clearer to me the political challenges ahead for ASM.... (interesting that Xi's family might have a $400M holding in China's REE)....

    I, personally, am not holding my breath that much will come from the US for ASM (seen it a few times in the past that when it comes time to put money on the table what you then find is the US interests want everything all their way and they don't want to leave any 'meat on the bone').

    What I do think is... SK is making an 'all of the economy' bet on future tech. The EV transistion and wind turbines is central to that. Despite the slow start (and lengthened timelines) for ASM I think SK will progress this plan. I think SK intends to future proof their economy and so that does mean securing a robust alternative supply stream and a duplicated manufacturing capacity which protects them against China's monopoly. The only thing is that takes time... and it will be politically sensitive every step of the way.
