Thanks for the post.
Why do I feel like we as shareholders are veiwed as seals that clap as they are fed the same old regurgitated fish? Same old vertical integration story; a 1st year economics undergraduate light bulb moment. Find me a friendly interviewer that won't only ask me hard questions, but let me crow about the same old crap everyone has heard so many times before.
Only one other company globally outside of China mining rare earths and processing (in Korea apparently - Seonglim Advanced Industrial maybe?)? But really is ASM actually doing either commercially? I must have missed that. "We are actually doing it". Nope, not at anything resembling commercial volumes. Rather the point. They should be by now. Its a sellers market. Utter embelishment, still just knocking out samples at KMP.
A massive dearth in volumes globally indeed, but plenty starting to build to do it and ASM is still not, and lost much of its advantage therein. It has had ambitions and this lame duck has been too slow in exploiting previous clear advantages ASM had, that should have indeed seen ASM first to market already. outside of China.
MP Materials US had backing to construct the first fully integrated rare earth magnet manufacturing facility in the US., Iluka developing vertical refining (and actually mining at volumes for decades) at Enaebba. Pretty sure Energy Fuels is a major US producer and processor of Vanadium and at smaller scales other rare earths. And sorry, is Lynas not an ASX listed company that mines rare earths at Mt Weld and indedd refines and processes in its Malaysia plant (and no I do not own Lynas)? I am clearly am confused and obviously incorrect....as unlike Rowena, I am not a well informed and heavily paid RE mining expert and executive.
Seriously, nothing insightful ultimately, investors do not already know and a little bit of a Pinocchio-nose going on regards other emerging competitors in the arena.
"Momentum build 2nd half of this year". Similar rhetoric 1H 2023 and 1H 2024. Jeez BoD, crack the whip will you, this is Woodall all over again for poor long-term ASM investors?
