    Yes agreed that companies that make it into the ASX100 will need to be included in a lot of the major index funds, no debate about that.

    As of Friday close ASM was the 233 ranked company in the ASX300 and based on figures for the 12th Nov the share price would need to get to $42.20 to make it into the top 100.

    For inclusion in the ASX200 the share price would need to be $15.44 which is the next index hurdle to achieve.

    As noted based on figures as at 2th Nov so at lot can change before the next ASX100/200/300 index re-rating in March. Re-rating only happens twice each year and is not dynamic. Even if the value of ASM justified inclusion in the ASX200 before March then the various funds tracking these indices would have conditions that they could not buy until a formal 6 monthly re-rating was declared.

    So perhaps keep a track of where the ASM capitalisation sits and if you want to top up decide if you should do so before or after the rating valuation date. If ASM were to move into the ASX200 you may not wish to be competing with the fund managers to top up.
