ASM ups the ante in rare-earth oxide market
Metal producer comes closer to closing a deal for its Dubbo project

    24 Jan

Australian Strategic Minerals (ASM) has come one step closer to finalising a deal with a South Korean investment partnership for 20% of its Dubbo project, after the investors completed due diligence on the project.

The South Korean consortium is comprised of Cerritos Holdings, Kamur Partners, and ACE Equity Partners. David Woodall, managing director of ASM joined us to walk us through the deal, which was initially struck in July last year. Woodall highlights that the completion of due diligence by the consortium marks the point at which the deal can start being finalised, and getting the Dubbo project fully funded and opened by 2024/25. Woodall also suggests that this partnership is about more than just ASM and the consortium, but rather a major distribution affiliation between Australia and South Korea. With China controlling the majority of the rare-earth oxide market, ASM is looking into how to create additional sources of the in-demand materials to create more competition.
