G'day cplatfor, I am not sure whether the quantum of what can be packaed has changed much. For those in the health sector and especially those run by charitable groups (think Sisters of Mercy hospital groups, St. Vincets in Melbourne) the uptick in takehome pay can be sizeable. In fact without salary packaging I would estimate a wages breakout in the health sector would occur and this is where SIQ plays bigtime.
Remember when Kevin Rudd tried to get rid of salary packaging? It was a disaster for Rudd as he did not realise he was attacking his own Labor voter base. No living breathing federal politician would be game to attack it again. If they did it would be electoral suicide for sure.
And one of the other posters above is correct, that the TPG revised offer of $9.35 per share sets a very fair base valuation for SIQ should another offer come along.
