You forgot perhaps the single greatest benefit of all time, Catholic school girls! (I was only a teenager a few years ago so I still have fond memories fresh in my mind :))

Religion is opiate for the masses. It is there to provide something for people to believe in, because the vast majority of the human population realise they are such insignificant little animals in the universe, they could not possibly believe in themselves.

Religion unfortunately will not be going anywhere fast, and we as a society will continue to progress slower than possible because of it.
