The true definition of righteousness is to be at one with a good, loving God. It results in peaceful living and a deep humility.
Not to be confused with self righteous as this causes wars and oppression. Militant religious fanatics think they have the moral high ground with their self righteousness.
We can become "righteous" with any group of people or even our own individualism. Ever tried to talk yourself into something? This can become dangerous when out of control and motives are towards destruction.
