Agreed ... I do accept that religious righteousness is but a very small subset of righteousness ... war is then largely associated with "mass or large scale righteousness" as can occur with nationalism, racism and religion ... none the more palatable, but a fairer view eh?

Replace the word "colours" with the word "includes" and I believe I reasonably can, particularly if viewed as an just one example of but one of flaws in the power of "many" by say country, race and religion?
