I have been careful to post this in the General forum.
This is from ABC Online News today, but sounds like it could have been the news centuries ago.

An Islamic court in Nigeria has upheld the sentence of death by stoning imposed on a young Nigerian woman who gave birth to a child out of wedlock.

A cry of "Allahu Akbar", or "God is great", rang out in the courtroom when the judge ruled 30-year-old Amina Lawal be executed once she has weaned her eight-month-old daughter.

The Sharia court granted defence lawyers 30 days to appeal, which they have said they will do.

The young woman was escorted away in tears by her lawyers.

There is no mention of the father because under strict Muslim law he has not offended.

How in this day and age people can still be ruled by the superstition of any religion, and especially a religion as inhuman as Islam, is beyond my rational understanding.

I am not an Atheist, but am an Agnostic who thinks that if there is a God or Gods then he/she certainly has a weird lot of followers on this planet.
