"the balance sheet is good.. if you take out the acquisition"
I have never in my professional heard such a bizarre comment - and if any of my clients ever told me their accounts would have been good if they had:
1.Made more income.
2. Had less expenditure.
3. or, any other such crazy statement as to why they lost money
They would be looking for another advisor.
