    The common held view that the Palestinian population was expelled by the Israelis is a myth. They fled to avoid what they thought would be an arab war to wipe out the jews. The flight of the Palestinians was calle the "nakba" in English, the catastrophe, in 1948. About 700,000 moved out. This IMO is the original betrayal of the Palestinians, by arab leaders ,that started it all
