Tamas ..I must agree even certain birds are attracted to shiny objects ...with the cry..."A fast game is a good game"... Been there done that and it's certainly fun and profitable in a fast moving market ..and we've seen this over the last few years in the USA in the Sensational Seven!!
Not me as I've aged I now try and buy value, looking at book value...with good growth potential in a growing industry ,in a supply deficient industry or what will be a supply deficient industry ...Now if a nice trend has started on the chart that's good.If a long base has been forming for some time that's good.If the share has signs of growing profits for the last couple of years that's excellent.
Above all I avoid companies where management use it as a lifestyle company and you can see it with the big salaries handed out and little else....a company there for the benefit of the management and some management grow old with the company with bigger salaries, little to no growth and rarely a dividend which is more by luck than intent.Management of these companies tell very good stories to keep interest up over the years!!!!
When I realise that there is quality, I buy a few and watch it closely ...then and only if all continues to get better I buy some more and as it improves I buy some more and then become lazy on quality....As Jessie Livermore reputedly said later in life ..."It's sitting that makes the money". I would add it's Sitting on Quality that makes the money.
All the Best to All.
