In Melbourne, leading up to the crash, the viewers gallery above the stock exchange floor in Collins St. was full of traders with $6000 Mobiletronic bricks in the back pockets of their jeans. I was stuck in a paddock in Berwick, unable to do anything, but listen to news reports about how the panic had set in, and comparing the complete rout to 1929.
When I managed to get in to the gallery the next day, there were many grey faces.
Then over the next couple of months you heard the rumors, "remember so and so", " yeah ", " well he commited suicide".
Its going to be an interesting couple of months! Hope I've cheered everyone up!
