But , thanks for posting the map of Brisbane. It gives people a sense of scale in what's required . So imagine if all the roofing area in that map had solar panels on it. Then include all the north facing windows on the bigger buildings. All the hard surfaces that are exposed to the sun each day.
Imagine the ' hidden ' solar power station in that area that would be equivalent of Gladstone. All part of the built environment and people wouldn't even know it's there. No emissions. No noise. No pollution.
Instead of transmitting power hundreds or thousands of kilometers , it's generated right there where it's being used.
And, we won't have to transport coal 200ks from the mine to the power station. Even more savings.
Plus, we won't have to look at this.
The efficiency of solar panels are still increasing . So ,we might even have a bigger power station in that area as the tech develops.
That's a great post. It demonstrates how the new technology will replace the old.
Yes, that really does put it in perspective, doesn't it ?
