I remember a while back the Australian Government was criticised for some of the "cultural" questions they had on the citizenship test.
If people are prepared and allowed to use "Cultural differences" as a defence when breaking our laws, perhaps our immigration department needs to spend more time and money educating people that our culture is different to theirs.
And our government has a duty to protect our kids and should NEVER allow people to immigrate or migrate here not knowing that child abuse or child abduction is illegal in our country.
If our courts are prepared to excuse "cultural differences", our government has a lot to answer for, especially when it wants to promote a healthy multicultural society.
