Thanks for your thoughts Redsand. Always interested to read what other genuine holders have to say. This is after all a discussion group.
You may well be correct in saying Cannon "undersold" the nickel. Certainly there seems to be a similar train of thought among some holders.
I've always seen the decision to demerge the nickel as a means for RXL to concentrate its efforts - and limited finances - on what was already shaping up as a promising gold deposit. The nickel sale also freed up cash for RXL shareholders.
Unfortunately trying to get top - or even close to top - dollar for an asset can be a tough ask. Every rival management wants to play hardball when it comes to bargaining and it COULD well be that the offer Cannon received was the best deal available at a time when funds to continue developing Youanmi's gold were in short supply.
There COULD also be a very different explanation. I don't pretend to know the answer and have no intention of playing the role of advocate for RXL/Cannon management. For me, the issue is done and dusted.
As for "a significant investor in the pipeline", I'm gratified that you can also see it as "the only plausible explanation". I always hesitate to advance my theories as the ONLY possible explanation because who knows what else might be happening behind the scenes that we're not privy to.
In more than four decades of investing, one of the first lessons I learned was that most managements take minimal notice of their long-suffering shareholders' opinions - particularly when they (sad but true) hold enough shares between themselves to easily fend off any shareholder challenges or revolts.
The only thing I'd like to add is that IMO the "significant investor" - if there is one - is not necessarily a new investor. My GUESS is that it is already a major shareholder with a record of steering Aussie gold explorers all the way to becoming Aussie gold producers. But if it eventuates that there IS a new investor on the scene, then welcome to the wild ride of RXL!
