ralom, hard to explain, but a broker may have 1 million shares for his clients, he can use these to buy, sell, short, what ever they can do to make a buck, always relying on retail holders to improve the margin. they could have bought early today pushing higher, then shorting some of their stock at the same time. this activity is certainly aided by being aware of information such as a xtrade, knowing this client will sell. they can buy back their short position as their client sells into possible arbitrage, knowing there will be sellers. this would suggest that volume we have been seeing is completely unrealistic. not easiest to explain but lets see if there is a cross trade first, then can check shorts later in the day.
