What about the many stocks which retreat and don't rebound like that ?
The only time I hold on is when I sell part of a holding at profit, remaining holding is free. It rarely happens but ALL is one. I sold a % in early 2000'2, recouped initial cost. saw it retreat from $20 to $1.95, up to $38 pre covid, down to $15, back to $30. 92 now.
I will never sell but that is one of the few such successes.
It is a stupid saying, haven't lost till you sell
