You might be right. I had assumed it had gone back to China since that is where the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) is located, as per this paragraph in the announcement from Renergen. Given the vacuum chamber is a complex piece of equipment, it is not far fetched that it would need specialised manufacturing or repair that is simply not available in SA. There is a famous story from several years ago about a US navy ship that needed it's artillery guns repaired, and the only place that it could be done is in China, so similar story here if it did go to China.
