Is Renergen's LNG plant 57 times more expensive than LNG import terminals ? The figures in the article below seems to suggest so. "Cost of South Africa's first LNG import terminal pegged at $372mln-plus" The R7 Billion cost of this planned LNG import terminal in Richards Bay is around R3500 / annual ton of the initial 2 million tons of LNG to be imported per year. Compare that to Renergen's Phase 1 plant which cost R1.2 Billion so far, and still counting, which during the limited times when working, only produce an annualised c. 6000 tons/year , which, if my quick maths is correct) works out at a capex cost of c. R 200 000 per annual ton, or about 57 times more expensive. Should inefficient, uneconomic and loss making companies be propped up and bailed out by taxpayer money, or allowed to fail ?

i’m sure all the lenders of P1 and P2 will be in touch with him to work out where they went wrong.
