“The resulting loss of jobs, income and disruption to the economy of the region, social and environmental problems have left the community of Port Augusta in duress,” the submission says.

"The state’s power system remains dangerously unbalanced, with transmission company ElectraNet urgently looking at options to improve security of supply at a cost of up to $2.5 billion.
Port Augusta Mayor Sam Johnson said the city had no transition plan, and it was hoped there could be a move into renewable technology in the region. The council also is faced with another environmental problem, with the city’s high-profile Augusta Lakes rapidly drying out from a lack of water flows that once came from the power station."

"Does this mean SA can only build submarines when the wind blows?"

"No use blaming the SA State government for high priced, insecure power supply. Their renewable energy, anti-coal policies were there for all voters to see prior to the last election. The problem lies with the people who yet again voted the Labour party into power. The only way that sensible energy policy will be restored, will be through a change of government. Until that happens - you get what you vote for. "

"I feel for everyone one the receiving end of this anti-coal madness. We are moving house early next year, the first job will be a new switchboard and transfer switch to allow a diesel generator to be connected automatically on a blackout. Don't think you're alone in SA, we live in Melbourne."

    mmmmmmmm.....
