Cost, storage, reliability and availability are the issues now. These things will be overcome, of course, the global market is worth trillions. Instead of lamenting the end of the mining boom, Australia could be at the forefront of renewable energy, but the discouraging of innovation of any sort, lack of political will and the complete absence of a venture capital industry ensure that we will probably be followers, not leaders.
