You really need to open your mind up!!!!
- No one is saying hydrogen should be made using coal or oil... thats just stupid to do that. (yes its currently done, but we want to move away from that)
- Hydrogen will be made 100% once there is ample supply of green power. Thats why Twiggy is travelling to 47 countries to identify places where the cheapest green electricity can be made.
- No one is saying Telsa battery cars are bad, or that Hydrogen cars are better than battery cars, no one cares.
- Tesla car batteries create about 17.5 tonnes of C02 during production, that is not good. Fuel cell cars will not have anywhere near that! ever!
- Efficiency calculation:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Fuel Cell : 0.75kg/100km
- Average distance travelled before written off/scrapped: 150,000km / ten years
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 1125 Kg of H2 over car lifespan to travel 150,000 km
- $2250 @$2/kg or (goal)
- $4,500 @ $4/kg or
- $7,875 @ $7/kg
- $14,748.75 @ 13.11/kg (current)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Model 3 electricity costs to travel 150,000 km$
- $3000 for 2Kw home solar system. (best case)
- Standard grid home charging: $7,335
- Supercharging: $14,670
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
- A Tesla model 3 battery cost US$13,500 retail !!!! so probably more like half that during car manufacturing. Replacements will cost about US$24,000, (which will be more than the car is worth after hundreds of thousands of kms.)
- A FC+H2 Tank+Small battery will cost less, so the original price of the car will be a little less.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
- The Toyota Mirai costs $35.5k (once $15K free hydrogen is excluded)
- The Tesla Model 3 costs $38k
As you can see the cost to run a H2 car should be very similar and much greener in the long run, even if it is more inefficient.
(am I an idiot for arguing on the internet, yes!!! but I do these numbers for myself!!! this proves that hydrogen has a future, and FMGs investment in hydrogen is not stupid, and therefore my investment in FMG is not stupid... might even drop another 100g if I feel silly )
