    Very interesting reading. There are a couple of issues I think are missing from these articles:
    1. With respect to efficiency, the article doesn't take into account the transmission/distribution losses between the generator and the vehicle for the Li-ion solution, nor the infrastructure cost of getting electricity to the vehicle. With hydrogen there is the option of converting the fuel at the generator and transporting it loss-free to the vehicle. The cost of transport remains a factor of course.
    2. The last article states that hydrogen systems are complicated, expensive and dangerous to operate. This is true for pure hydrogen. But the CSIRO's new(ish) hydrogen osmosis technology allows hydrogen to be stored and transported at low pressure as ammonia. Ammonia also doesn't pose the explosion/conflagration risk that pure hydrogen does.
