Private enterprise now owns the majority of fossil fuelled generators
due to the States' privatisation of these assets.

Why should a Private Enterprise entity pay hundreds of millions
for fossil fuelled generators if it were cheaper to construct
solar & wind with battery storage?

I'm talking contemporary economic sense, not reaching back forty or fifty years
when electricity generating was exclusively owned by Governments.
