    I think you'll find that is purely because Lending institutions have gone "woke" and will not lend to investors interested in constructing new fossil fuel power generating plants.

    They would have to "explain" to their shareholders why they are doing so...far easier just to bail out of that market and go "green"...plus of course their are mountains of tax payer funded subsidies and grants available to go "green"...rather than reliable inexpensive fossil fuel generators.
    Australian fossil fuel generating plants have been mostly flogged off only due to the truck loads of cash available if investing in "renewables"...

    The same applies to Nuclear power investments in this country, forget it as we have too many NIMBY's and are too backward to consider clean and reliable Nuclear power generators...
