emissions is NOT the first priority

emissions is the lip service priority --------- but, believe me - if we get to eg. 2035 and we switch off the last coal stations and months later - we get lights out

with MASSIVE economic losses, domestic and social disruption on almost unprecedented scales -

no one will give a toss about emissions in a transition period.

Look around the world ------- people are building coal fired power stations - even though they have emissions as a priority ---------- why are they doing that?

because they know that a bigger priority is to keep the lights on - yes, go away from coal and go to solar and wind and storage - but, you have to keep the lights on whilst you do it

and if that means burning coal in the interim - then, so be it

Coal is possible in Australia - to fill gaps in that apx. 2035 to probably ?? 2045 period.

Nuclear is not. Gas, I don't think is possible. Diesel - on the scale needed - I think is not possible.

Tasmania went to diesel generators when it ran out of water back several years - it brought in a huge quantity of diesel generators -

but, Tassie compared to the rest of Australia - is a doddle to look after --

if we're going to have a discussion on what is 'possible' and what is not 'possible' -

not 'acceptably possible' --------- practically possible - then, to me -

there is probably only one thing ----------- coal
